Sounds of the Queen City Contest

Show your love for the Queen City with rhythm and rhyme

Compose an original hip hop song—like the one below created by two of our judges—that celebrates our beautiful, diverse, growing city. Finalists will perform at a live event at N.C. Music Factory, and the winner will perform Charlotte’s new theme song at the 2017 National League of Cities conference in November. See the Official Contest Rules for more details.

The winning individual or group will be invited to perform at the National League of Cities meeting in November 2017 in Charlotte, N.C. Additionally, they will receive:

  •  Mentorship with Hip-Hop University and Hip-Hop Orchestrated
  • A photo shoot with Spread magazine with a maximum of three looks as well as  an interview and ads on the magazine’s website
  • Red carpet access at the Queen City Awards in December with VIP seating and a three-minute performance during the show, which will be televised this year
  • A write up in The Konnected Magazine
  • Two hours of stage training by JR Adduci
  • Four hours of studio time, mixing & mastering at SouleJukebox
