Ghosts of Bannockburn at Legion Brewing
Jul 30 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Ghosts of Bannockburn was formed in early 2013. In just a few short months the boys have become one of the premier regional Celtic bands. The lads have not onlytraveled regionally for headlining shows, but have opened for international acts as well. A small line up tweak added a bit more traditional Celtic sound to the fierce Celtic Punk sound they had been working on. The future looks bright indeed for Ghosts of Bannockburn, intent on keeping the Scots and Irish heritage alive with their signature sound.

Repeat Repeat
Aug 9 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

Mixing the sunny swoon of sixties pop with a dark swirl of Warholian garage rock, *repeat repeat create their own geography, dreaming up songs rooted in the spirit of both coasts. Based in Nashville, TN, the band looks beyond the borders of their landlocked hometown and, instead, mix California surf culture and New York street smarts into the same track list. A blend of bloom, doom, and boom, they’re “Dick Dale’s snot-nosed grandkids.”

A self-described family business, *repeat repeat was founded by Jared Corder,  — a former punk-rock kid raised on the sounds of Bad Religion and Black Flag. The goal was simple: to make edgy, guitar-driven music that nodded to the classic sounds of Jared’s California birthplace, complete with hazy harmonies and surf-inspired arrangements. When the band’s producer, Gregory Lattimer suggested that Jared’s wife, Kristyn, sing with the band, the group began working on their debut album “Bad Latitude.”

*Repeat repeat hit the road in support of the album’s release in the summer of 2014. They traveled from city to city, while Nashville’s top-ranked radio station, WRLT Lightning 100, supported the band with plenty of airplay back home. Most importantly, the bandmates saw the country and gained new perspectives. When it came time to write a second record, those perspectives came into play, inspiring *repeat repeat to write songs not only about themselves, but about the characters orbiting around them.

The band has toured with Beach Slang, opened for Neon Trees, and has a slew of major festival performances under their belt, including Forecastle, Firefly and SXSW. “*repeat repeat” has a sound that is bold, bi-coastal beach pop, at once coolly current and proudly vintage. Its sugar-coated music with a raw, real, rocky center that’s, and unmistakably *repeat repeat.

Hackensaw Boys
Oct 10 @ 8:00 pm

For almost two decades, the Hackensaw Boys have plowed the asphalt bringing their raw, gritty American vernacular sounds to the music halls and streets across the world. Twenty years later, the group continues their burning hot vision of American roots music into a new age, fueled as much by a rowdy punk spirit as by the traditional masters that first inspired them.

The music began in 1999 when four friends from Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley found their collective ways to the roots music hub of Charlottesville. They didn’t waste time getting going, playing a show on the street the day of their first practice. The group let the good times roll and started adding like-minded people until their ranks reached twelve players for their first US tour. As with the folk and punk traditions which form the foundation of their sound, they’ve always operated more as a collective than a band. All said, twenty-eight members have cycled through the group—you never quite know who might sit in as a guest on any given night.

Helmed by founding member David Sickmen, the Hackensaw Boys have always had more in common with bands like The Clash, who celebrated the working class roots of their own music, than they did with an overly-polished Nashville mainstream. As evidenced in the Hackensaws’ history, their music fit as easily backing Charlie Louvin as it did in backstage jams on tour with Modest Mouse and the Flaming Lips.

With their most recent release, a fresh take on Blaze Foley’s “Oval Room,” these roots music stalwarts speak directly to America’s political unrest. Written and recorded by Foley in the 1980s, the song recalls his list of grievances with the Reagan presidency: ‘Everywhere he goes, make the people mad / Makes the poor man beg, and the rich man glad.’ The band was excited to resurrect this protest gem—which was recorded by their friend Thomas Olivier at Studio Americain in Amsterdam—as the words seem more timely than ever.

ANTiSEEN 35 Year ANTiVERSARY, with Josephus and the George Jonestown Massacre, Taped Fist
Oct 13 @ 8:00 pm

Long before it was fashionable, somewhere in the red clay rolling hills of rural North Carolina where time stands still and mass media culture merely flys over, a young Jeff Clayton was stewing up a mash of crazed ideas inspired by late night horror flicks, Saturday morning wrestling and the scratchy old records of Alice Cooper and Black Oak Arkansas. It was a potent and hazardous mix that, when given the blasting cap of punk rock, ignited one of the most infamous and iconic bands in rock & roll; ANTiSEEN.

Now, over thirty years later, Clayton still leads the charge – a bloodstained barnstorm of southern fried punk rock fury. Times and taste may change, but ANTiSEEN does not; diesle-fume piss and vinegar – and damn all the rest. What was once topical has long since become dated… But not ANTiSEEN.

Black Tusk w/ Earthling & DSR
Oct 19 @ 9:00 pm

Black Tusk was born from sweat. There was blood, and maybe a few tears, too, but more than anything, it was sweat that marked the earliest years of Savannah, Georgia’s Black Tusk. Formed in 2005 by three lifelong friends—bassist Jonathan Athon, guitarist Andrew Fidler, and drummer James May—the band welded together a three-pronged vocal attack, dirty punk, sludgy heavy metal, and a big fat dose of Motorhead to create what they called “swamp metal.” The name stuck, and the sound spread as they hit the ground running and toured hard on their first EP, 2005’s rough’n’ready When Kingdoms Fall. They kept up a manic pace, recording two more demos (2006’s untitled demo and 2007’s The Fallen Kingdom. Hyperrealist signed on to release their 2008 debut LP, 2008’s Passage Through Purgatory, and 2009 saw them churn out a trio of splits with the likes of The Holy Mountain, ASG, and Fight Amp. Soon after that, the heavyweights at Relapse Record came calling.

The Philadelphia-based label and the band formed a partnership that lasts to this day, first collaborating on their 2010 breakthrough Taste the Sin and then on their highly-anticipated 2011 follow-up, Set the Dial. Since then, they’re released a pair of EPs—2013’s Tend No Wounds and the digital-only 2014 EP Vulture’s Eye—and kept pounding the pavement in the United States, Europe, and the UK alongside bands like Red Fang, Kvelertak, Down, Municipal Waste, Fu Manchu, Inter Arma, Intronaut, and so many others, as well as being hand-picked to appear on Metallica’s Orion Festival in 2012.

Cursive, Meat Wave, Campdogzz
Oct 31 @ 8:00 pm

Over the past two decades, Cursive has become known for writing smart, tightly woven concept albums where frontman Tim Kasher turns his unflinching gaze on specific, oftentimes challenging themes, and examines them with an incisively brutal honesty. 2000’s Domestica dealt with divorce; 2003’s The Ugly Organ tackled art, sex, and relationships; 2006’s Happy Hollow skewered organized religion; 2009’s Mama, I’m Swollen grappled with the human condition and social morality; and 2012’s I Am Gemini explored the battle between good and evil. But the band’s remarkable eighth full-length, Vitriola, required a different approach — one less rigidly themed and more responsive as the band struggles with existentialism veering towards nihilism and despair; the ways in which society, much like a writer, creates and destroys; and an oncoming dystopia that feels eerily near at hand.

Cursive has naturally developed a pattern of releasing new music every three years, creating records not out of obligation, but need, with the mindset that each record could potentially be their last. 2015 came and went, however, and the band remained silent for their longest period to date. But the members of Cursive have remained busy with solo records, a movie (the Kasher-penned and directed No Resolution), and running businesses (the band collectively owns and operates hometown Omaha’s mainstay bar/venue, O’Leaver’s). The band even launched their own label, 15 Passenger, through which they’re steadily reissuing their remastered back catalogue, as well as new albums by Kasher, Campdogzz, and David Bazan and Sean Lane. And like many others, the band members have been caught up in the inescapable state of confusion and instability that plagues their home country, and seems to grow more chaotic with each passing day.
