Party in the Park is a weekly concert series that makes Romare Bearden Park THE place to be on Wednesday nights! Bring a picnic and lawn chairs or a blanket and come enjoy the music and friendly ambiance of the park. Food and beverage vendors will be available on site.
Our performer for June 20 is The Tams. They have been entertaining audiences for over 50 years, and while their music has historically been considered beach music, it can also be classified as a mixture of smooth soul and R&B.
This event is FREE.

I’m a Charlotte based pianist who grew up and received my first musical influences in the Chicago area. Growing up playing in the church, I have gospel roots that still show in my performances on piano. I studied at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and began my professional career in the Columbus, Ohio jazz scene. I’ve been lucky enough to have shared the stage with Wynton and Branford Marsalis, Slide Hampton, Wes Anderson, and many others. I continue to perform in the Jazz Room Series in Charlotte, an initiative sponsored by the Jazz Arts Initiative and for which the JAI has received a $30,000 grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. My arrangements for and performances with the Lumzy Family in Charlotte are recorded in their CDs, including Satisfied and Live in Charlotte. My most recent musical configuration, The Lovell Bradford Trio, can be heard frequently on the jazz scene in Charlotte, NC. In addition, I am currently Minister of Music at Charlotte’s Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and teach jazz piano at Davidson College.
