Tokyo Police Club have just announced their triumphant return to the music scene with their upcoming fourth studio album TPC. The new LP is due out October 5 via Dine Alone Records. The new record comes four years after their last, Forcefield.
Tokyo Police Club seemed to be a band primed and ready to take over the indie rock scene back in 2006. The Canadian group had two back-to-back hit EPs with A Lesson In Crime and Smith EP. The buzz around the band at that time was pretty big. And it all ended up culminting in their incredibly solid debut album Elephant Shell. That LP dropped back in 2008 on Omaha’s reliable Saddle Creek Records. But subsequent years saw the band changing labels a couple of times, dropping two more records, plus a covers LP. For some reason, the band failed to recapture the magic and acclaim from their beginnings, but now they’re ready to get back into your heart.
TPC sounds like a reset for the band, and that couldn’t be more clear with the lead single “Hercules.” The new track finds the band having a blast playing utterly catchy hooks again, and it’s coming at just the right time. The band is hinting that the sound of the new album will be much in the same vein, which is news to get excited over. So get ready. Check out “Hercules” below.
No further details about TPC have been revealed just yet, but we can expect some fairly soon. In the meantime, check out the band’s tour dates right here.
