Watch Natalie Prass play “Lost” with a full string section

Natalie Prass released her incredible sophomore album The Future And The Past just about a month ago. It was a turning up in style from her debut, featuring more soulful grooves and hard-hitting lyrics. Now, she’s shared a “live” version of album highlight “Lost.” The new video features Prass singing and playing piano live in her studio while being backed up by her band-mates as well as a string section. It’s a gorgeous peek at what makes her new album such a captivating, emotional, and beautiful work.

Reportedly, The Future And The Past was created after Prass scrapped an entire album’s worth of material. She felt compelled to respond to the election and what it all means to be a woman in this country. As such, the album is steeped in political undertones without sounding like a straightforward protest album (or even an overtly political one). Because what Prass accomplishes is sketching out well-rounded portraits of people, or versions of herself, and how they’re reacting and responding to the desperate times we find ourselves in. If you needed any reminder on how beautiful the new album is, you need look no further than this video of Natalie Prass performing “Lost.” Check it out right below here, and just below that you’ll find her massive list of upcoming tour dates.
