Mount Eerie shares plans to release a live album this fall

Mount Eerie (Phil Elverum) just released a new album’s worth of material a few months back with Now Only. That album continued in the trajectory of last year’s heartbreaking A Crow Looked At Me. Both albums detail Elverum’s grief in facing his wife’s recent passing away. They’re…pretty tough to listen to, but still altogether great works. Around last year’s time touring behind A Crow Looked At Me, Mount Eerie performed a set in the Netherlands at the Le Guess Who? Festival. And now it looks like that set is going to be making its way onto an album.

Phil headed to Consequence of Sound’s podcast This Must Be The Gig for a general interview about a lot of different things. But the most newsworthy discussion came when he announced his plans to release a live album. As of right now the album is titled After and is due out sometime this fall. He said:

“A recording emerged from that show, and I remember it being particularly good and huge. It was kind of the best show of that tour. I’m putting a live album of that. So, the recording turned out really good, which was strange because I don’t really like live albums and I don’t really want people to record my shows really.”
