Mothers released their fantastic, self-assured debut album When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired back in 2016. It was a record that came onto the scene quietly but likely left a lasting impression on anyone who heard it. The wide, textured soundscape of angular guitars and cascading melodies proved a fitting backdrop to hold up Kristine Leschper’s incredible voice. And it looks like we’re in for yet another treat with the announcement of their upcoming sophomore release.
Render Another Ugly Method, arriving September 7, will mark the band’s first record for label ANTI- Records. It’s being described as “an assemblage of personal vignettes and imagine scenarios that examines consent, escape of the body, power and powerlessness, and the act of making.” To get a sense of what that might entail, the band have shared first single “Blame Kit.” The new song will prove familiar to fans of the first record, but it somehow sounds even more confident than anything on their debut. And it showcases once again what a powerhouse Kristine Leschper is.
