Born and raised in Charlotte North Carolina, Elevator Jay has been writing and producing his own music since the age of 12. His goal is to bring back the original sound of Southern Rap, with a new twist; staying true to those influences that pioneered the sound and also adding lyrical content that is key to this form of southern expression. In 2010, Elevator Jay released his very first project, the Going Up Mixtape, hosted by DJ Dexter Dynamite and has dominated the Charlotte hip-hop scene ever since. Elevator has worked with various artists and producers, compiling a diverse catalog of music, all while learning his craft along the way. Elevator has been captivating audiences and growing his fan base in the southeast by opening up for acts such as Devin the Dude, Big K.R.I.T., Juicy J, Curren$y and Project Pat, to name a few. Elevator Jay is passionate about his hometown and cultivating the music scene in North Carolina. He works alongside creative individuals in the “Permanent Vacation Deep Fried Family”, which is an umbrella of those who want to spend the rest of their lives doing what they love.
