Swedish DJ/Producer Avicii dead at 28

In devastating news, Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) was found dead on Friday, April 20th. His publicist, Diana Baron, confirmed the tragic death, according to Billboard. The Swedish DJ was only 28 years old.

While the cause of death is not yet known, Avicii did not hide that his health issues from the public. He suffered from acute pancreatitis, an ailment that eventually caused him to retire from touring in March of 2016.

The DJ had made a name for himself as one of the biggest electronic dance producers. HIs tracks consistently topped the Billboard 100, with perhaps his most recognizable track, “Wake Me Up” reaching #4 in 2013.

The music world took to Twitter to mourn the loss of Bergling, including fellow DJs Calvin Harris and Zedd.

Other artists also expressed their sorrow at the loss of such a young talent.

Avicii’s album AVĪCI (01) is currently nominated for Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Album.
