Neko Case released her supremely great seventh studio record Hell-On just a couple of weeks ago. The album is overflowing with shifting genres and sounds, all while being expertly anchored by Case’s always impressive vocals. The album also sees a hefty group of expert collaborators. To mark its release, and the spirit of a band playing well together, Case has headed to KEXP studios to perform a short selection of new material. And it’s a great watch to get you through this Monday morning.
KEXP is a Seattle radio station that has become known around the country as having some of the best modern artists come in and play in-studio sessions. Neko Case is their most recent addition. The show was recorded just about a month ago, ahead of the reuse of Hell-On. But the full video performance is now available for you to watch in full. Naturally, she tears through four album tracks and gives a real nice interview. The interview portion is always a highlight of these KEXP performances, but watching Case and her band mesh so flawlessly together is a joy. Of course, the big shining star of the whole thing is obviously watching Neko sing her heart out. I dare you not to get chills. Give the full near-40 minute performance a watch below.
