The National made an appearance on Seattle’s KEXP radio this week to play a few songs from their most recent album Sleep Well Beast. They also took it as a chance to pull out an old unreleased track titled “Rylan.”
Originally, “Rylan” surfaced shortly after the release of their 2010 LP High Violet. The only recorded version comes from a live performance on Canadian radio show Q. Since then, it’s rarely been put into live sets, and it’s never been released as a professionally studio recorded track.
The National’s new performance of “Rylan” keeps the same melody and lyrics, but with a fuller band sound. Check out the video below. Below that, you can also watch their entire KEXP performance.
Sleep Well Beast is out now.
