This weekend, the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF) will run for the 22nd year, and the musical lineup showcases over 400 artists. The two headliners for the weekend this year are Toots & the Maytals, and Los Lobos. Not only does the festival offer a chance to listen to a wide variety of musical acts, it also will be a family-friendly event. The festival site offers eight family adventure villages. Toots and the Maytals formed in the early 1960s, were the first group to coin the term “reggae,” through their song “Do the Reggay.” The group has been nominated for five Grammy awards, and won once in 2004.
Los Lobos, the other major headliner of the LEAF festival, has won three Grammy awards, and
ten total nominations. Many listeners will most likely recognize their cover of Ritchie Valens’
“La Bamba” from 1987. Also performing at the LEAF festival is Khruangbin. This band weaves together elements of surfer rock, funk, and soul to create rich musical atmospheres without coming on too strong.
“White Gloves” and “People Everywhere (Still Alive)” are two tracks definitely worth checking
