CLT Interviews

Charlotte’s own JaggerMouth

How did you all meet? And when did you realize you had something with the band?
We’ve all known each other from previous bands. We knew we had a band when Corey Feldman told us we didn’t completely suck.

Where does the name come from?
The name is an known unknown.

Who are some of your influences then and now?
Brand New, Micheal Jackson, George Clinton, The Mars Volta, Everytime I die, Johnny Bravo, Childish Gambino, Rival Sons, Alexisonfire, Rick and Morty, 1997 Denver Broncos, Boys II Men, The Stooges, Guttermouth, Prince, Bowie, Queen, Gun club, The Hives, The Kills, T-rex, Foxy Shazam, and Leopold ‘Butters’ Stotch.

What’s the song writing process like?

We usually wait until the record has about a week or two before it’s released and then write it. The last song was recorded Thursday and the masters had to be sent out on Monday.

What’s your favorite tour story?

Probably the time we were kicked out of a city. They were holding a city wide fest that they do yearly. We played our set, walked off stage and were (in short hand) told to get the f*** out. Apparently, we weren’t family friendly enough.

What are some of your favorite venues to play at around Charlotte?

Snug Harbor and The Visulite Theater are home to us. There are a lot of great venues around town so it is difficult to pick and choose.

Talk to me about your new music and plans for the back half of 2017?
The new music is a little more personal musically and lyrically. ‘Synthetic Me’ was our introduction to everyone, our first album was a party rock record, this album was more or less written for us. Back half of 2017…tour.

Who is your favorite comicbook hero or villain?
Either Danny DeVito as the Penguin or Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr.Freeze.

For those who don’t know your band, what are three words to describe why they should listen?
Formally NOT formerly
